Personal Thoughts: The Rain

This is the summer that I wished for rain, but the earth had a different plan;taunting me with the promise of deluge, I waited.I waited for every humid rise.I waited for all the fluffy clouds.I waited for stiff knees in the old.I waited for the silence of birds, but the rain did not come. The cool and crisp air lures me outside,so I may fill my lungs until they burst. The unobstructed sun calls me hither,so I may bask in its beauty and delight. As I wander to and fro, a greatness comes to find me.Birds lead my unknown way, while dogs and cats seem to greet me.These are not the things that happen in the rain, but the passing of the rain brings them close. This is the summer I wished for rainand I had waited for many a day.I waited for the glow of lightning to wash me.I waited for the sound of thunder to envelop me.The mist, the spritz, the first few dropsgive me comfort because I know what's next.I do not wish for pain and tragedy.I do not wish for endless destruction. Why did I wish for the Summer of Raineven though this one is done?Because I will always wish for better daysuntil my time has come.
