Personal Thoughts: After The Gym

After a week (OK, a business week......OK, it was four days; back off!) at the gym, I have learned some things. Below, in no particular order, are those things. Enjoy!

  • I need to get a small, easy to run with gym bag.
  • The gym seems significantly closer to my place when I run.
  • In my town, there are about five people out and about at 5:45 in the morning.
  • Those five people are working out at the gym.
  • I need to get flip-flops for the gym locker room (not because it is gross, just because it feels weird to be in a shared personal hygiene space without them).
  • Towel service is awesome.
  • Wearing glasses in the sauna is a good way to literally burn them into one's face.

What was possibly the best thing that happened as a result of working out was a return journey one day. I was walking back from the gym to my apartment and a huge gust of wind hit my back. It felt really good but that was not the best part. The wind caught the loose flowers of some nearby cherry blossom trees and scattered the petals in the gust. As a result, I was showered in blossom petals. In my head, I must have looked like some victorious samurai in an Akira Kurosawa film. It seemed epic...at least from my perspective. I probably just looked like the weird guy with flowers stuck to his sweaty face. Either way, still fun. I look forward to more gym-related adventures in the coming weeks.
