I left the house a little later than usual today. However, I was not rushing. Presidents' Day is a good day to commute because there are no school buses on the road and not as many people are working. As a result, the roads were clear and fast this morning. Which was fortunate because I did not want to deal with traffic today. Yesterday, it took 5 hours to drive back from my brother's house outside of D.C.; so I appreciated the easy going roads. Then my mother called. She informed me that NJ Transit was on a holiday schedule and that the next train to leave was 7:09. It was currently 7:03. I had 6 minutes to drive 8 minutes, park my car, pay for said parking, and hop onto the train. Somehow, I was able to manage all of this before the train doors closed. However, the rushing was not without incident. I had two gloves on my hands when I left my car. I found my seat on the train with only one glove on. Somewhere between parking and boarding, I lost a glove. So I wrapped my bare hand in my scarf and went on my way. Got to love working on a federal holiday.
