Current Thought – 08.22.10

As the night toils onward, one is left with increasingly dwindling options. I just swallowed 12 ounces of Guinness…from a plastic Coors Light cup. I never thought I would become one of those officious beer connoisseurs that cared about the type of vessel in which their liquid in question was presented.
Apparently I am.

Who Do You Write Like?
by Greg on Jul.15, 2010, under Sharing is Caring
I just found this website that is amazing. It is called I Write Like. What you need to do is copy anything you have written and past it into the site to see who you write like. I copied in a bunch of my blog posts and apparently I mostly write like David Foster Wallace. I say mostly because a few of my posts have come up with H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allen Poe, or James Joyce. Try it out and comment below with your author!

I finally got a new phone! After so much time, I entered into the smartphone community. Furthermore, I said no to the cult of Apple and yes to the family of Android. I have only had it for about 36 hours, but my HTC Incredible does everything I command. It has a few idiosyncrasies that perplex me, though the OS is more polished than any other open source software I have used. Also, this handset is so freaking fast. Not fast that you notice it; but rather fast that you are stuck doing nothing because everything you wanted to do is already done. That is the measure of a good phone. When it dovetails with your life as opposed to insisting upon itself. HTC Incredible on Verizon. That is all.

My Dichotomous Relationship with Apple Inc.

Being a (somewhat) creative person, I own a Mac. Also being a hopeless geek, I own a PC. There are so many things that a Mac does well. But there are an equal number of things a Windows machine does well too. When the iPhone debuted in 2007, I wanted it. Nay; needed it. (continue reading…)

Strange Signs from Abroad

Please. Read this article and view every sign. It is amazing and totally worth it. My favorite, “Please: No explanations inside the church.” Affirming, once again, that God has no room for science in that omnipotence’s heart. Be prepared to laugh.
The Challenges of Moving: Parking
by Greg on Apr.21, 2010, under Daily Life
Ever since I moved significantly closer to NYC, I have run into a few…challenges.
Today’s challenge is parking…rather finding a place to park on the street so my car does not get towed away. When I was waist deep in the search for an apartment, an assigned or guaranteed parking space was part of the optional criteria. I thought of myself pretty smart because rentals tended to be cheaper if they did not have assigned parking.
